The Translational Research Program for Chagas disease (Fio-Chagas), of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, in a partnership with the Chagas Disease Technical Group of the Secretary’s Office for Health and Environment Surveillance, of the Ministry of Health, organized, on June 18th, 2024, the event “III Meeting of Technical Groups for Chagas Disease in Brazil”. The purpose of the event was to share experiences with other Brazilian states regarding the fight against Chagas disease, in a wide discussion under the theme “One Health”.
The event was attended by speakers Natiela Oliveira (One Health work group in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul), who addressed “Ministry of Health perspectives in the implementation of the One Health approach”, and by Eliana Amorim de Souza (UFB), who talked about “Surveillance in One Health perspectives: Experience in territories of the Integra Chagas Brasil project”.
Experiences were also exchanged between State Health Secretariats (SES), with the participation of Anália Celencina Fagundes Gomes (SES-TO), Claudia Bezerra Mendonça (SES-CE), Cleonara Bedin (SES-RS), and Monique Pinheiro Maia Silva (SES-MA). Each health secretary presented the experiences and challenges involving Chagas disease in their states, thus enriching the discussion.
